Fees and Funding

Session fees

We are open Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 4.00pm. We only charge our families for the hours that they choose to send their child to us, although we do ask for a minimum booking of 5 hours per day.

Like all settings, our hourly rate varies based on the age of the child. This is because we work by a very high ratio of staff to children when they are very young and require extra dedicated care and support. However, as they grow, the children are able to thrive in slightly larger groups and require less 1-2-1 care. As we operate outdoors, we work by higher ratios than the average setting to ensure the safety of every child in our care.

Fundraising for our charity

As a not-for-profit, registered charity, one of our objectives is to provide high quality, cost-effective childcare to our community. We try wherever possible to ensure than our fees are as low as they can be so that every family in our community can access our setting.

Government funding has been limited for many years now, in which time our operation costs have increased significantly. Sadly, we very rarely face a year where were income is enough to cover all our operational costs, as well as essential equipment to run the preschool.

Instead of simply increasing our fees and passing the cost onto local families directly, Orchard’s amazing staffing team and Management Committee get together and run a series of fundraising events throughout the year.

When joining Orchard, we ask all parents to be mindful of the efforts that are required to plan and manage these events and ask that you show your support however you believe you can. Our events are always fun, we hope that at the very least you will attend them whenever you can and bring your family and friends along as well. Every penny that we are able to raise at these events saves us from increasing our fees which will directly and negatively impact our families.

Our events will be advertised on our website and Facebook Page. Join our page and keep track of all the latest information on our sessions and events.
