Our Community

Lustleigh is a very special place and we feel proud to be part of a such a friendly and dedicate community. We have served the families from Lustleigh and its surrounding towns and villages for more than 30 years and we hope to be here in another 30 years.

Orchard was originally set up by a group if mums from the village around 1984, as a regular playgroup meeting in the community orchard, support each other through the early years with their children. In 1994 Orchard Preschool and Playgroup officially registered as a charity (1036897) before registering with Ofsted (106167).

The Preschool was gifted the use of a small piece of the community orchard shortly after, where the parents set up a nature garden where the children could play, explore and grow some veggies.

In 2005, Lustleigh opened it’s new Village Hall where we have been operating our sessions from ever since.

In 2011, the Parish Council gifted the use of an extra pocket of land to extend the Nature Garden. Orchard Preschool and Playgroup received National Lottery funding to remodel the Garden into the wonderful play space it is today.

As well as serving the community by offering Early Years care and education, Orchard Preschool runs many fundraisers in and around Lustleigh. We are always very well supported and are always amazed at the kindness and generosity the villagers offer us.

We do all we can to support our community in return and make it our mission to take care of the environment that has been entrusted to us.

Here at Orchard Preschool and Playgroup we strive to offer a place where all people feel welcomed and listened too.
